October blocks

Here are the three block for Shelly. I used a mustardy yellow which I didn't end up loving, but hopefully it will look good in a scrappy quilt! These were a lot of fun, I cut my squares larger to give me more room to cut them down, but 9 1/2" squares(the size of my square ruler) were too large and I ended up with a bit of waste.

And here are(most) of the blocks I've received so far. I think I've gotten one or two more since I took this picture last week(before the 4 inches of snow!). I think the rest are on their way, so I'll get the top sewn as soon as they get here and post pictures of it then! Still undecided on sashing. Any opinions?

Sorry for the quality of photos--that's what happens when you have a crappy photographer using a crappy camera!

  2. Tara...Im thinking you could go either way with sashing...Freddy Moran does some neat things with quilted gates...maybe you could try something like that as sashing...her book is called Freddy's Houses I think.

  4. Oh I have an idea! White picket fence.

Do white sashing and then do a different white (maybe a tone on tone) and applique pickets.

Ok, that now sounds like a lot of work once I've typed it out.

But wouldn't that be so cool? The pickets don't have to be tiny, they can be fat.

    Just a thought.

  5. The house blocks look really nice together Tara. Hmmm...I'm not sure about how to put them together. I do like the picket fence idea.

  7. I think the fence idea is great, though I have absolutely no idea how you do it. that's what is so neat about this, I'm learning so much from all of you!

I am in round two of my tiles, the first ones are great if you're a munchkin (kind of small...). We are going to visit one of the girls this weekend, but I will be sewing next week. Lill's Halloween costume took priority these last couple days, but it's done and going into the mail tomorrow.
