April - My month and the return of the Wonky Stars ;-)

Thanks so much for your help getting me to decide what to do!
I mailed the fabrics today (second picture was last night so the colors are off).
Here are two stars I made out of almost all of one packet (the colors are more true in daylight).
You can make the star however you like and you can add some of your own fabric if you wish.
Maybe keep it to 75-80 % my fabrics (so I keep some consistency) and you can leave some colors out if you wish, like I did on the second one.
Obviously I didn't think about the "bambi on mushrooms" ;-) fabric and so mine is in all directions. They can go in the round, be standing... it is up to you.
You will receive enough for 8 background squares (the same color) but you can mix that one up too if you'd like, not sure how that would look but I am open to some very funky wonky stars.
For the other squares (4 and 1) there is a lot of fabric and they can be jumbled too.
Have fun and add as much personal touch as you wish, so I can say, this square was Tara's, this one Vivian's, Jenny's...
I told my husband : "I am warning you this is looking like a baby quilt" and he said "well, you can take bambi out" and I said I wouldn't and the said "oh boy" ;-) We don't have kids and I am ready as you can see!
If you feel like making two feel free and if you can send the left over squares back that is great if not keep them if you like them (the plain ones are not special I know)
The tutorial is still : http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.com/2009/02/wonky-star-tutorial.html
Sorry about this "novel" and thanks again!

Jenny's blog and help please!

A flower for y'all, I love spring and its nice surprises. Anyone knows the name of this pretty one?

Here is my block Jenny. Hope you like it!
I am sooooo in love with the wonky star.
In fact, I have a dilemma...
My fabric is chosen and ready to go but I wanted to do the star again and thought you might all get bored.
Can you suggest a design that is not too complicated and kind of like the wonky star since I love it so much.
It is my turn and I don't want to be so late.
I was playing around with the "card deck" and "stain glass effect" or even the "friendship braid", but I am not in love.
Hope you can help me. I am going to surf the web a little since I have been looking at a couple of books only so far.
I will be sending the fabrics as soon as I have found the pattern so I can get the measurements right.
Thanks!

Jennys Blocks

Here are your blocks Jenny. I heart the green fabric so much, I could have eaten it! I am not a green person...but this one is awesome!

I had fabs left over and added my favorite pumpkin (although one of my customers swears it is the color of a certain longhorn here, lol) to make another block. Hope you like em, Elaine

Hey Lizzie...call off the dogs!

You are so patient with me Lizzie...and you are so appreciated for that. I have torn out this block so many times that I have lost count. I wanted so badly for this to be perfect, until I realized, hey, I'm not perfect! This is supposed to be a fun reflection of me. So I went a little Southwest for you. The applique is felted wool with some embroidery thrown in. I hope you like it, Elaine

Jenny's blocks

I went wonky woo!

Looking ahead to my turn

I took a class on paper piecing this week. Two full nights, about 9 hours total, and I managed to complete two carrots. LOL! But they are pretty carrots. I'm building a veggie garden. I actually have 3 other carrots nearly put together, just have to attach the tops to the carrot part.

Anyway, I started looking at free paper pieced blocks online and look what I found!

http://www.winnowing.com/chkeggs.html

Would this be something you would be comfortable with? The blocks are 3 x 3 inch so I was thinking that all four together would be a good block size. Everyone do a chick and 3 eggs. What do you think? Is this something you have tried before? Does paper piecing scare you?

I may just have Cadbury Easter Creme eggs on the brain though LOL.

March-ing blocks:)

hi! I'm back in my life again! I just got the March package and am thrilled that I get flying geese; it's one of the few blocks I have a little experience with! One quick question, Jenn, what size do you want the geese sections to be? or did you explain that and I missed it?

happy sewing today, everyone, I know I'm excited to have a chance to just sit and sew-it hasn't happened for a long time around this house!
