Elisa's blocks

Elisa asked me to post this information about her blocks

"the blue areas for my blocks should be scrappy but that they don't need to be blue fabrics please. Thank you."

Melina's Blocks (I hope)

I really didn't want to be the first to post Melina's blocks as I'm not sure I have done them right.
Melina I  will not put them in the post until you say this is what you had in mind.
This is a great block to make and once you get in the flow they are fun. I can see a scrap quilt coming!!

Time Travel

Glad the blocks are finally there.  I wanted to see how long it took them to travel from Odessa, Texas to Australia so I have been watching the posts.  Since Sue is in the U. S. I wasn't sure if we would ever know.  It took about 20 days.  I mailed them on May 3rd and she posted on that they had gotten there about May 23rd.  I had previously thought it might take as long as two weeks, but I was off by almost a week.  Just thought it was interesting and had to share.

Messages from afar

Hi everyone,
My friend, Gloria, back home is collecting mail for me while we are in the US. Today she emailed me photos of gorgeous blocks from San-Dee and Nathalie.
Thank you so much girls. That makes 16 blocks so far!
I'm having way too much fun to wish i was home with them just yet! Heehee.
Tomorrow we leave San Francisco and go by train to New Orleans. I'm really looking forward to meeting you soon Beebee.
Hugs Sue

Melina May

Last month I was so excited about this pattern that I thought I would have you help me make it as part of the Bee Balm. I started cutting squares and circles to mail you and got so excited and couldn't wait that I started making the quilt except without cutting each square and its circle in quarters and re-sewing them. I liked it just the way it was like this.

As you can see for our Bee Balm group now I am going for the quite the oposit: Black and White!
And I decided to cut the squares and their circles this time.
Let me know if you still have questions.
This is the back side. I could not leave it plain, but I did my first free hand quilting with the presser foot and realized why you could want to leave the back plain/white, it makes the quilting designs show better. You live and you learn I guess.
Please give me any comment or thought you might have as I am learning a lot about patchwork and quilting.
Sorry again I am so late for my month!!

Sorry about the months

Hi, all!  I'm so sorry I was mixed up about my month, I'm July, Elisa is June.  Of course, with wedding plans starting to get going, I'm confused about a lot of things!  Right now Lillian and her father are talking about the button images, and she must have said something really bad because his response was:  I think I can figure it out-I do have a Ph.D, you know.......  the idea of using Dr. Who as a theme is starting to come together, and it's going to be a lot of fun.  Well, it will be for us, and if people don't like it, they can talk about us behind our backs:).

So, it looks like we have Melina's block, and June will come when it comes, then I'll deal with July on time.  That should put us to rights, except for the people on vacation who will finish up when they can.

My month of May

Hello Bee Balmers,

Here are the instructions for my month :

Since I am so late, maybe I should ask you all to use fabric from your stash and I would like to request all black and white fabrics only.
Any kind you want though, flower, square, plain,... prints.

I know it sounds a little boring but I think I can get a little more uniformity that way and I was thinking about making my blocks red maybe and have it be somewhat Japanese or so looking...

Can you each send me 4 unfinished (cut into quarters but not sewn back together) or finished squares (or a little bit of both) so I can lay them all more randomly on my quilt?

I am open to feedback and wanted to apologize for my being so late!!

I am catching up tomorrow, I promise!

The pile is growing

One last mail delivery today before we head off on our travels and there was a squishie from Janet in Yukon. Thanks Janet. I love your blocks. The pile is looking very impressive.

I won't be opening any more mail now until August so please don't panic if you don't here from me about your parcel.

Hope so 'cos the blocks are perfect.

From New Zealand

Two more blocks arrived this week from Marls in NZ. Don't they all look great together.

Thanks Marlene.

I just want to let you all know that I'm going to be away for the next 11 weeks so I won't be able to say thank for any more blocks arriving or return any for May, June or July until August. Promise to get onto them quickly when I get home tho'.
It's very exciting to be off touring the USA and I'm really looking forward to seeing Beebee too.
My bloke and I will be covering a lot of miles, often in a hire car and sometimes with Ricky Tims on a coach, what fun it will be. Who knows, we might even be in your neck of the woods!
Cheers Sue

Sue's blocks

Okay, I am bad.  I do have an excuse, actually two.  My husband has had some major medical issues for the last month and has keep me busy playing chauffeur to various doctor's offices and hospitals.  The second excuse is that without the blue room being finished in its transition to the pearl room, my sewing machine wasn't set up for the longest time.

BUT-that is water under the bridge now. My machine is set up and I did Sue's blocks yesterday after doctor visits.  They will go into the mail tomorrow if I get there before they close, or Monday at the latest.  This should tease just a bit:

the color reproduction isn't the best, it's the cheap camera I have, but I got to add in some of my red gingham, butterflies and space prints.  Do you seem them?

Beebee, I'm working backward and your blocks will be done this weekend and mailed, along with a bit for the boys' space interests.....

Blocks are in the Mail

Just wanted to let Sue know that her blocks are on their way to Australia.  I got them in the mail yesterday - 5/3/13. So, let's see how long it takes them to get to you.  I really like this pattern and have an idea to do something with it, but it will have to wait until I get some other things going.

Has anyone posted for May yet?  I don't want to miss out or get behind on the blocks.
