I am defeated

Dear all,

I have been defeated by emotional strain from eldercare issues. I was not able to get my fabric cut, packaged, or mailed while in Ohio. At this point, I am withdrawing the May block. Please feel like this is your recess month. I want to be a part of sewing for the rest of you, and so I hope to be included in the coming months' mailings.

I had really hoped that since Lou and I had leveled out with our health concerns that I would get to know my sewing activities again on a regular basis, but that does not seem to be happening. I have almost finished the blocks you all have not received from me yet, and with a concentrated effort they should be finished over the long weekend and out on the 31st.

I only hope my daughters honor my wishes should I (G-d forbid) descend into the Neverland of dementia or Altzheimer's and become just the body of the person I am.

So, happier thoughts and wishes to all, and hopefully Viv's cheery colors will give us something to look forward to!

  1. Oh San-Dee, (((hug))). I wish I could help you, I really do.

Don't worry, we'll continue on. Vicarious traumatization (those who are in the support role are very susceptible) is nothing to sneeze at, it can beat you down. take your time, don't worry about having your "month", you're still hear and we're still listening, just yell when you need a break or a laugh, or someone just to say hey.

I hope things straighten out for you and the elder issues soon. I wish there was something I could do. Don't worry about your month....don't drop out, things will settle down. If you want to, I can take May and you can have July.
    Think about it..

  3. San-Dee, don't worry at all, we'll just tack another month on the end if you want to do it then. I'm sure everyone will be happy to have a month of catch up and do another month in November..? It's only a quilt, nowhere near as important as your health, please remember that this is a 'friendship' group. I hope we are all friends who can support another friend...
Take care of yourself, you're a very important person around here....

  4. Oh San-Dee, take care of yourself and remember we all care for you and how you are feeling. I'm happy to do your blocks later or we could all send you a Surprise block with our own fabric. Just ask.

  5. I agree with all comments. Please please don't drop out. Geez, I am the most late so far, but I am working at it. Being a care giver is soooo draining physically and emotionally. We are your steadfast friends and we ain't going nowhere! And like Lizzie said, you are so important to the group. Big hugs to you, Elaine

  6. Sending big warm hugs San-Dee. Please don't leave the group. I can't add alot more to what the others have said but know you are with friends here.
I think either Lizzies suggestion of adding another month at the end or we could all send you a block in May. Maybe just tell us the colours and leave the rest to us.
Keep your chin up, you will get through this time.

    Hugsssss

  7. Dear San-Dee,
I agree with everyone. I am with you San-Dee, don't be defeated, I am your friend as well! We can work something out, I am open. The most important right now is that you feel better and good and get in a better situation and state asap.
    Big hug.
I am dreaming of a day where maybe we could all meet somewhere on the surface of this beautiful earth and have a nice big gathering (all twelve of us at least) and talk about our quilting, our lives... Maybe one day, maybe in a country where none of us live... neutral terrain ;-)
then our hugs won't be virtual anymore!
